What’s the Issue?
For over 50 years, Veeder-Root has led the way in environmental compliance for fueling stations.
Their Automatic Tank Gauges and leak detection systems are UL-certified
only in their original manufactured form.
Veeder-Root has clarified that:
- UL does not recognize remanufactured, rebuilt, or third-party “Simple Apparatus” components.
- Any non-OEM parts used to repair or modify Veeder-Root ATG systems can void UL system approvals.
- Third-party certifications do not replace or override Veeder-Root’s UL certifications.
If your systems have been repaired or upgraded with non-OEM components, your site could already be at risk.

Federal and state regulations require release detection systems to be installed and calibrated
according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Veeder-Root does not permit any third-party, rebuilt, or remanufactured components in their certified systems.
